What Should I do and how do I start?

What you should do is not just up to you but only you can say what is the best and most important for you and your family.

That being said I offer you some basic info and hope if will start you on the road to self reliance and self support.

  1. Develop situational awareness.  See Chart

  2. Get out of debt!

  3. Get out of debt.  Seriously, if you are swimming in a world of debt you will not be in a good position to purchase gear, and training you may wish to add to your preparations. So important it's listed twice

  4. Have documentation *-list on paper where all in family will meet if there is a fire or any reason to leave your home.*- list on paper  all important family information (passwords, SS#, date of birth, phone #, email, address) yes you may have memorized this information but under stress or injury you may not be able to retrieve it when it is needed.*- Keep papers like mortgage, marriage license, birth certificates, car titles and so on, together and handy if you need to leave the house in an evacuation.

  5. Have a honest 30 day supply of food and water. See Addendum

  6. Have auxiliary, redundant means of power, lighting, cooling, warmth, communication. See Addendum

  7. Have redundant personal protection and armament. See Addendum

  8. Get training – medical, personal protection, general skills) See Addendum

All I offer is a seed.  Only a determined, thoughtful, consistent person will put the odds in his or her favor. I hope you will
